Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 31, 2026
PikaLex is a word-learning app for young children and families. This Privacy Policy explains how the app, pikalex.com, and parent or guardian support enquiries handle information.
PikaLex is designed to avoid collecting personal information from children. The app does not require an account and does not ask children for their name, email address, date of birth, photo, voice recording, precise location, contacts, or messages.
Who is responsible for information
The data controller and service provider is Serhii Taikalo. Postal address, telephone number, and contact details are available in our Legal Notice. Privacy enquiries can be sent to pikalex.app@gmail.com.
Information stored only on the device
The app stores learning preferences and progress locally on the device, including selected languages, age range, image style, exercise progress, word statistics, and earned stars. PikaLex does not transmit this learning information to us.
Local information is used only to provide the app experience. It is not used for advertising, tracking, profiling, or sale. You can remove it by resetting learning history in the app, deleting the app, or clearing the app’s data in device settings.
PikaLex version 1.0.67 and later do not collect child profiles, precise location, camera or microphone data, advertising identifiers, behavioural tracking data, or purchase identifiers.
App versions and legacy purchases
PikaLex version 1.0.67 and later do not offer subscriptions or in-app purchases and do not use RevenueCat. All five learning modes are available without daily usage limits.
Version 1.0.66 and some earlier store releases offered optional Premium purchases and used RevenueCat to validate purchases, restore entitlements, manage Premium access, and provide aggregate purchase analytics. In those versions, RevenueCat may receive purchase history, product identifiers, entitlement status, platform, app version, country or locale, currency, and a pseudonymous app user identifier. PikaLex does not send RevenueCat a child’s name, email address, advertising identifier, or custom child profile.
Apple App Store, Google Play, and RevenueCat may retain transaction records needed for purchase restoration, refunds, fraud prevention, accounting, legal compliance, or support. We do not receive or store payment card numbers, billing addresses, or store account passwords.
Optional content downloads
PikaLex may download additional language audio or illustrated image packs through Apple or Google app-distribution services. The store may process the normal technical and account information needed to deliver those packs under its own privacy terms. PikaLex uses the downloads only to provide app content, not for advertising or profiling.
Website delivery, security, and aggregate measurement
pikalex.com does not require an account and does not set advertising or analytics cookies. The website does not embed advertising pixels, social-media widgets, or third-party behavioural analytics.
Cloudflare delivers and protects the website. It processes technical request and security information such as IP address, request path, browser or device information, approximate country, timestamps, and security signals. Cloudflare also provides us with aggregate traffic, security, and performance reports. We use those reports to keep the website available and secure, not to build individual visitor profiles or track people across websites.
Support and privacy requests
If a parent or guardian contacts us by email, we receive the sender’s email address and the information included in the message. Providing this information is optional, but we may be unable to answer or resolve a request without enough relevant details.
We use correspondence only to respond, provide support, investigate a legacy transaction, handle a privacy request, protect legal rights, or comply with law. Please do not send payment card details or personal information about a child unless it is genuinely necessary.
Why we process limited personal information
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, our legal bases are:
- Contract or steps requested by you: where processing is necessary to address a legacy purchase or another request directly connected with providing PikaLex (Article 6(1)(b)).
- Legitimate interests: to deliver and secure the website, understand aggregate service performance, prevent abuse, answer ordinary support enquiries, keep necessary support records, and establish or defend legal claims (Article 6(1)(f)). These activities are limited and do not involve behavioural advertising or child profiling.
- Legal obligation: to respond to applicable data-protection rights and to keep or disclose records where tax, accounting, consumer, law-enforcement, or other applicable law requires it (Article 6(1)(c)).
You may object to processing based on legitimate interests. We will assess the request and stop the processing unless we have compelling lawful grounds to continue.
Service providers and recipients
- Apple App Store and Google Play: app distribution, optional content delivery, and store-controlled transaction, refund, and support records.
- Cloudflare: website delivery, security, network reporting, and aggregate performance measurement. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
- Google/Gmail: delivery and storage of emails sent to our support addresses.
- RevenueCat: purchase validation and entitlement management and aggregate purchase analytics in version 1.0.66 and earlier releases, plus limited historical transaction records. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
- Professional advisers or public authorities where reasonably necessary to comply with law or establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
International transfers
Some service providers operate in the United States and other countries, so information may be processed outside the European Economic Area or the country where a visitor or parent lives. Where GDPR transfer rules apply, an applicable adequacy decision, standard contractual clauses, or another lawful safeguard is used. You may contact us for information about the safeguard relevant to a specific transfer.
Retention
Local app progress and settings remain on the device until learning history is reset, app data is cleared, or the app is deleted.
Support correspondence is kept only for as long as reasonably necessary to answer the enquiry, handle relevant follow-up, prevent abuse, meet accounting or legal obligations, or establish or defend legal claims. It is deleted when those purposes no longer apply. Cloudflare, Apple, Google, and RevenueCat retain provider-controlled records according to their own retention policies and legal duties.
Your privacy rights
Depending on the law and circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict, or receive a portable copy of personal information, and to object to certain processing.
You may also complain to the data-protection authority in the EU or EEA country where you live or work, or where you believe a violation occurred. A list of authorities is available from the European Data Protection Board. Instructions for requests are on our Data Deletion Request page.
Children’s privacy
PikaLex is intended for children with parent or guardian supervision. The app does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us through a support message or another channel, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.
Advertising, tracking, and external links
PikaLex does not show third-party ads, sell personal information, track users across apps or websites, or use data for targeted advertising. Settings, support contact, and links outside the app are placed behind a parental gate where appropriate.
The website links to app stores and PikaLex social-media pages but does not embed their tracking widgets. If you follow an external link, the destination service processes information under its own privacy policy.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures and limit collection to what is needed to operate the app, website, and support.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this policy when the app, website, service providers, or legal requirements change. The “Last updated” date identifies the current version.
